Character Motivation: Through a debate. He agreed eventually as a challenge. He takes the thrill seeker approach to life and tends to make arbitrary decisions. He wasn't coerced or tricked but he was extremely bored, so there's something to be said about addicts and using his weak spots. Plus, there might just be a few people in the world who he cares about and wouldn't like to see hurt by the illness. But he's not going to admit that...
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
Name: Eames
Age: 31
Physical Appearance: Pillow lips
Point in Timeline: Returning to Mombasa after the Inception job/end of canon.
World Description: The only difference to modern day world is the Dreamshare business.
History/Background: Inception wiki: Eames
Noteworthy Positive Characteristics:
1. STORYTELLER VIRTUOSO - Eames has imagination. He uses it very liberally and efficiently. He'll spin a story about anything and talk his way out of most awkward situations. He plays and manipulates people when he feels it's necessary for his own gain, sometimes for the gain of the group. He is the one who often suggests in canon how they should spin the story to get to the results they want to get to.
2. REGULAR DOUBLE-O-SEVEN - He's a cat who lands on his feet. Sharp, quick, versatile. He'll give you an accurate psychological evaluation of a person he's known for twenty minutes or he'll ski backwards a snowy mountain side while shooting bad guys. There's not a lot that he doesn't have in his skill set and he's not afraid to learn new things.
3. DISASTER ARTIST - Innovative, creative, ready to explore - Eames is the regular boy scout of any chaotic situation that might arise. He's ready, he's willing and often ends up fixing the situation with some sort of creative, never-tried-before solution that comes together with ducktape and plain old luck. During the Inception job he often is the person playing the most versatile role and doesn't seem to mind improvising on the spot.
4. CHAMELEON MANIPULATOR - He reads people like open books. He'll also put them on like a fine suit if he feels like it. But he's good at giving people what they want and who they want. He can be charming and suave, but he also can be efficient and on the point. It just really depends on how far he's willing to go to entertain someone. He's the one who makes the assumption that Fischer's relationship with his father is the key to change his mind, he's the one who riffs off with Cobb about how to fix that relationship.
5. RELUCTANT BEDROCK - So, he has some unfortunate loyalties towards people he's come to work and associate with. He doesn't like this side of himself but he isn't going to betray them. He's calm and collected when storm hits, and he'll keep the circus running when shit hits the fan, as seen in canon multiple times. When they realise that they're trapped in the dream he calms the arguments between Cobb and Arthur, when Mal appears to the final level, he adjusts his role in the job and finds an alternative plan.
Noteworthy Negative Characteristics:
1. EASILY BORED - God, is he ever. Eames is driven by one goal: entertaining his curiosity. He gets bored easily and this makes him irritable and snappy. Imagine putting a cat in one square feet box without anything to do for a day - it's how Eames feels like when he isn't given enough to work with. He also doesn't like to explain himself, feeling that it's redundant to go through his thought process just because someone didn't quite keep up with him. We see him snapping at Arthur several times when Arthur asks questions about the plan.
2. DAREDEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE - He'll take risks. Just to satisfy his own thrill seeking tendencies. He'll try a new thing, just because it's new. The whole Inception job is a big homage to his thrill seeking tendencies.
3. DICK IS A DICK IS A DICK - He's not your boy next door. He isn't your future husband. He's a career criminal with no intentions of ever loving anyone else but himself. (He's not always successful.) And he isn't going to talk about it. He has better things to do in life than actually sort out something so boring and exhausting as relationships.
4. LIARLIARLIAR - He's paranoid. He's secretive. He keeps everything true very close to his chest. This doesn't mean he isn't going to open up to strangers or friends, just that what he says usually isn't true. In fact we don't really know anything about Eames, even if he's one of the major players in the movie.
5. LIMITED PATIENCE - Eames' personal hell would look like an endless cue to something meaningless. He's extremely impatient, especially when he doesn't have a plan. He doesn't suffer fools if he doesn't think he gets something out of it. He's never measured himself for size, he doesn't fold his laundry and if he bothers to wear socks at all, they're probably mismatched. He can lay in wait if he has a goal in mind, but it better be a worthwhile pursuit or he's going to lose interest in no time.
Character Fears: Insanity, losing his mind, things like Alzheimer. Endless dullness. Real affection and then losing it. Totalitarianism.
Powers/Abilities: Nothing supernatural. He's just a regular conman with a wild diversity in his skill sets. Hand-to-hand, weapons, strategy, acting, psychology, forgery and everything in between. He's known as The Forger in dreamshare. This means he can manipulate dreams by taking on another person's skin and voice and play them in the dream. Basically it's an ability to shapeshift in dreams.
Personal Item: PASIV, a dreamshare machine, around the size of a suitcase, silver, contains tubes and a funky looking circular machine at the middle.
VOLUNTEER SAMPLES
Network Sample: Sample
Action Log Sample: sample, which I realise is very short and not that reflective. My open rp post is here with several log threads if you wish to see how I play him. I'm going to post a top level to the TDM but it's a little late for extensive threads at this point. Let me know if you wish me to write an additional sample for this setting!
